Therapy

Approach

I work with couples, individuals and adult families.

The cycle of our lives and the experiences within its phases can be stressful and challenging; change can be difficult, especially within the context of our genders, social class, sexual orientations, and races. I work experientially, somatically informed and relationally to bring in novel ways of approaching issues. Areas of expertise include rebuilding trust between partners, healing from infidelity, learning new communication skills to manage anger and decrease conflict, repairing family relationships, divorce, and single-parenting, creating sexual intimacy, raising children to become healthy adults, family blending, addressing the impact of sexual abuse and other developmental and adult traumas. I have been working in the area of traumatic stress for over 20 years.

I work with clients from diverse backgrounds and social locations in a collaborative way to identify problematic issues and unhealthy patterns, establish goals, and work together in an open, nonjudgmental manner.

As a trainer of therapists for over 20 years, I developed my integrative way of working in therapy. While I draw upon multiple theories and techniques to match each client’s needs, I integrate Experiential relational and somatic approaches, mindfulness techniques, intergenerational family therapy, neurobiology, and polyvagal theory.
